I noticed that F5 Distributed Cloud customers are predominantly companies that handle high-stakes, real-time transactions where downtime isn't an option. These aren't typical SaaS companies. They're financial institutions processing payments and insurance claims, transportation networks moving millions of passengers, government bodies serving citizens, telecommunications providers, and large-scale retail operations. They build and maintain critical infrastructure that entire populations depend on daily.

These are definitively mature enterprises, not startups. The signals are unmistakable: employee counts regularly exceed 1,000 (often 5,000+), they describe decades of operating history, they serve millions of customers across multiple countries, and they operate extensive physical infrastructure networks. ABANCA mentions "over 8,000 employees worldwide," DS Group references founding in 1929, and V.tal describes "22 million homes passed." These companies manage legacy systems while modernizing, which is exactly when distributed cloud infrastructure becomes critical.
